Raising the Bar for the "Raise the Roof" Capital Campaign
In 2010, the Boys & Girls Club of Greater Westfield embarked on an innovative project to improve the capacity of our facility. This "Raise the Roof" capital campaign was a 10,000 square foot building addition project that was driven by a need to accommodate and serve more youth and teens with age-appropriate program spaces.
In 2012, construction was completed and the new building was open to the public. This project has added much needed program spaces, including: a new Education Room, a Teen Center, a new gymnasium, new Kidz Klub classrooms, more room to feed youth members free daily snacks and nutritious dinners, age appropriate game rooms and more.

During the process of raising the roof here at the Club, we seized an opportunity to "raise the bar” and add an additional 5,000 square feet to the original expansion of 10,000 square feet. This expansion project was driven by a need to accommodate and serve more youth and teens of greater Westfield with age-appropriate program spaces.

By "raising the bar,” we:

·         Expanded our facility by 15,000 square feet (5,000 sq. ft. more than originally planned) and increased capacity for 200 youth in our licensed childcare program (in addition to 200 children who attend our daily after school open door program).

·         Tripled the size of our learning center, connected it to our computer lab and purchased a state-of-the-art Smart Board enhancing our educational curriculum.

·         Built a Teen Center, purchased computers and age-appropriate equipment for our teens. As a result, our teen membership has tripled!

·         Upgraded the heating and ventilation equipment throughout the building and retrofitted all electrical components to energy efficient elements making our Club one of the most "green” buildings in Western Massachusetts and keeping our utility costs the same!

·         Built a state-of-the-art gymnasium with new basketball backboards, padded walls under hoops, new curtain separating courts, and an automatic batting cage system.

·         Created the "Great Futures Club,” an affordable and quality part-time childcare program for children ages 2.9 to 5 years old.

·         Built additional bathrooms as needed for the larger facility serving more youth!

We are very proud of our accomplishments and thank the community for helping make this possible. If you would like to help us raise the bar for the "Raise the Roof" capital campaign, please donate today!
